Google is cool, but it’s not psychic February 8, 2010

In the past few weeks the search terms used to find my blog have increasingly revolved around trades. What I find funny is that many of the queries are worded thus: Will the Sabres make a trade?

Guess what, folks? Not even Google knows the answer to that question.

One thing all of us know, even without having to consult Google, is the Sabres are not good enough to win the Stanley Cup as they’re currently playing and with the current group of players. The Sabres WILL make the playoffs – it’s just a matter of what spot they’ll finish in.

I still fully expect the Sabres will pull out of their current slump and be fine. Hopefully that will happen sooner rather than later. This season has not been a fluke, I don’t care what the naysayers think. The team still has great goaltending and a solid team defense concept. If they stop doing dumb things they’ll become the Sabres we know and love again, rather than the Sabres we want to take out back and slap around.

My feeling is that the team needs a strong offensive leader and noone seems to be filling that role.

I agree with Mike. A lot of people are turning pessimistic, but this team is different from past years. I think they’ll be just fine.

The last paragraph is something I think we all need to read after the last couple weeks. They’re been pretty awful since the start of the Western roadtrip but it’s not like they can’t turn it around with the bunch they have.
