Pat Lalime is starting tonight; looking for his 200th career win. Go Patty!

The Sabres are trying to get their first four-game winning streak since, well, the advent of the wheel, it seems. Here’s hoping…

Liked:

  • A good, physical start for Buffalo. They had some chances early.
  • First power play looked much better than the ones in their last several games. It didn’t produce but I’m still encouraged.
  • Pominville already has five SOG with five minutes left in the first period.
  • Wow, when I looked at ESPN.com for some stats a few minutes into the third I noticed Derek Roy has won 16 faceoffs and only lost 4, for an 80% win rate. Nice!
  • Oh Thomas Vanek, how I love you when you actually play like the guy we know and love.

Didn’t like:

  • Derek Roy took a dumb penalty. In other news, the sun is bright.
  • Well, so much for the first ranked PK, guys. Poo.
  • The Sabres seem to be outplaying the Wild and yet are down 2-0. Might want to start stretching, Miller.
  • Pominville has five missed shots with five minutes left in the first period.
  • Owen Nolan is surprisingly spry for a player of his age. Montador had a lot of trouble handling him in that fight.
  • I have very little to say about the second period. It was much the same as the first.
  • Oh yuck, a southern road trip. Not coming at a good time for the Sabres…
  • This game is boring me to sleep. Seriously. Man, I’m glad I didn’t buy tickets for this one.  I’d feel cheated.
  • I cannot figure out for the life of me why Jochen Hecht is part of the power play unit. Ray says it’s his play down low – I say there are other players who could do the same thing who actually have hands.
  • Tim Connolly is having his worst game of the year. It’s uggglllyyy.
  • How many times are these guys going to be whacking away at the puck and never put it in? Sheesh.

The Sabres are shufflin’ off to Detroit. Miller will play, thank God.
