I hear LA is in second place in the Western Conference. Ruh-roh.

Liked:

  • Gaustad defends his younger brother teammate, Nathan Gerbe and fights. Maybe that will wake up the boys.
  • Tyler Ennis is hustling as usual. I just wish he could stay on his feet a little more.
  • The Sabres appear to have woken up here in the second. Welcome to the game, fellas.
  • Great screen by Kaleta and Gaustad on Sekera’s goal. See – that’s what happens when you shoot the puck, guys!
  • I always find it kind of funny when these teams that never see each other are pushing and shoving and fighting. It makes me wonder why the teams they play several times a year don’t turn into brawl-fests.
  • I feel better about the Sabres after seeing on Twitter that the Capitals have no shots on two consecutive power plays. Sad, but true.
  • Nice power play. I never thought I’d say that, but that was a nicely-executed power play, guys. And look – you were rewarded!
  • Soooooooooo. Um. Who are you, and what have you done with the Sabres power play?
  • *chortle chortle* The Kings appear to be imploding. I like it.
  • Cody McCormick is a beast. ‘Nuff said.

Didn’t like:

  • Early on the Sabres look like they’re skating through sand.  Which team is out of their time zone?
  • Annndddd Rivet takes a penalty because he can’t keep up. Excellent work, Rivet.
  • I think I get inordinately annoyed when the Sabres get into penalty trouble.
  • I really don’t understand why Lindy Ruff doesn’t use Vanek on the penalty kill. Didn’t he say he wanted to make him a complete hockey player?
  • Oh, what a horrible giveaway by Ennis. He’s gonna see that one in his nightmares tonight.
  • Through two periods, Tim Connolly is at 22% in faceoff wins. Nice work!/sarcasm

Well, that was a gutsy win. Heck of a game from a couple of guys.
